Ep.3 - Halal for Clout

In this episode of Halal-ish, we ask why some individuals who rarely identify publicly with Islam suddenly present as devout when there's something to gain, be it fame, money, or clout? From influencers to actresses donning hijabs for film roles, we discuss the performative faith that often appears only when the cameras are rolling.

This conversation isn’t about shaming those who struggle with practicing Islam; faith is deeply personal, and everyone is on their own path. Instead, we take a critical (and comedic) look at how Islamic identity is sometimes used as a costume or brand when it becomes convenient or profitable. Who gets to represent us in mainstream spaces? What does authenticity look like when religion meets the algorithm?
