Episode #12 - How to balance a successful legal career and your own business, with Kenzo Onumonu
On this week's episode we are pleased to be joined by the very talented Kenzo. Kenzo’s unique journey has involved working at one of the leading sports law firms in the world, the English Football Association and Deliveroo, among others! Kenzo is currently a Legal Director at a start-up in the food sector and, in his downtime, he runs the very exciting Ed-tech start-up that he founded, Forty.
Among the many gems that Kenzo shares during our conversation, we found it great to see somebody that is so successful express themselves with such humility and humour. Despite his easy-going nature, when speaking to Kenzo, it is clear that his success has been no accident and that he has a very bright future ahead of him. We loved that Kenzo’s emphasis on the fact that “nobody dislikes a humble learner” and the power of infectious enthusiasm when starting out anywhere.
Kenzo also shed a light on the realities of succeeding in a demanding career, while managing a side-hustle, and how doing a little bit each day can lead to large consequences over the long-term.
In addition to his commercial successes, we really enjoyed the fact that Kenzo’s passion for philosophy came through in this interview, with him commenting that the principle basis for his brand Forty is that:
“You cannot really understand the world, until you understand a perspective other than your own”.
With that in mind, be sure to tune in to hear Kenzo’s unique perspective and find out more from him and Forty below:
