228 - Duane Smith - the Chevelles In episode 228 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine, host James Patrick Regan speaks with Duane Smith, Singer and Guitarist with the Chevelles. In their conversation Duane tells us a little about his home town of Perth, Australia and the Chevelles new single “Caveman” and his alter ego surf band the Stingrays. Duane talks about his gear for both bands and tells us about his home studio where he records both bands. Duane walks us through the history and the lineups of the Chevelles throughout the years and talks a bit about his side job as a psychiatrist and he talks about his childhood and being named after guitarist Duane Eddy. Duane describes how bootlegs of their early albums kickstarted their career both in Spain and Brazil and how that eventually led to them catching the attention of Little Steven and be signed by his label, Wicked Cool Records and eventually writing songs with Little Steven.
