S3, E6 | How PichaEats Helps Refugees in Malaysia Through Culinary Entrepreneurship
Kim Lim is the co-founder and CEO of PichaEats, a social enterprise in Malaysia dedicated to empowering refugees through food entrepreneurship. Established in 2016, PichaEats collaborates with refugee chefs to provide authentic meals from their homelands, offering catering services for corporate events, weddings, and individual meal plans. The inception of PichaEats was inspired by Kim's volunteer work at a refugee learning center during her university years. Witnessing firsthand the financial challenges faced by refugee families, which led to children dropping out of school, Kim and her co-founders sought a sustainable solution. They envisioned a platform where refugees could utilize their culinary skills to earn a living, thereby supporting their families and keeping their children in school . Under Kim's leadership, PichaEats has trained over 45 chefs from countries such as Syria, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq, and Pakistan. The enterprise has served more than 350,000 meals and generated RM13 million in revenue, with half of this amount directly benefiting the chefs and their families . Kim's commitment to social entrepreneurship has earned her recognition, including being listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia and receiving THE EDGE Inspiring Young Leaders Award. Her efforts continue to inspire change and demonstrate the power of food as a means to rebuild lives and foster community integration.   🎙️ Watch the full episode on Hello Mentor to hear the full story (Link in Bio) Follow us on Social Media: XiaoHongShu: https://shorturl.at/uVBZO Instagram: https://shorturl.at/hT6wQ TikTok (Hiredly): https://shorturl.at/0gum2 TikTok (Grow With Hiredly): https://shorturl.at/gAObT Dou Yin:  https://v.douyin.com/uQlXc4X0vaY/0@9.com  🎧 Listen and follow Hello Mentor!: http://hiredly.com/hellomentor
