Hamiltalk — S04E001: What’s His Name, Man?
Welcome to Hamiltalk, the podcast where it happens. In our very first episode, hosts Kat and Cass take their shot and introduce a brand-new podcast all about Hamilton: An American Musical.
This kickoff episode is all about getting to know us, why we started this show, and what you can expect as we dive song-by-song into the music, characters, themes, and behind-the-scenes details that make Hamilton such a powerful and unforgettable experience.
Whether you’re a longtime superfan or someone who’s only seen the show once, Hamiltalk is a space to explore everything that makes this musical hit so hard.
In this episode, we talk about:
Why Kat has been obsessed with Hamilton since she was young
Cass’s perspective as someone newer to the show
Favorite songs and characters, and the moments that get the biggest reactions from the audience
How Hamilton was inspired by a biography Lin-Manuel Miranda read while on vacation
What future episodes will look like, including our two-song-per-episode format
A fun BuzzFeed quiz to figure out which Hamilton character we are (play along at home!)
Going forward, each episode of Hamiltalk will focus on two songs in order from the soundtrack. We’ll use them as a jumping-off point to talk about characters, plot, musical motifs, recurring melodies, themes, and anything else that feels fair game. Expect strong opinions, passionate reactions, lots of questions, and plenty of excitement along the way.
We also kick things off with a BuzzFeed quiz to find out which Hamilton character we are. You can play along here and let us know what you got:
