Playing to Survive: Hitler vs von Cramm. The true story of Baron Gottfried von Cramm, a German tennis champion of the 1930s and 1940s. Annette’s film provides a detailed and entertaining account including archive footage, animation and interviews with current tennis legends, of how von Cramm refused to join the Nazis, was imprisoned for being gay and was both rejected by the tennis establishments of Wimbledon and the US Open, and equally supported by his rivals on the tennis tour.
