Webinar #277 Prof Paul Johnson - Promoting and modelling truth in a chaotic workplace

Recorded on 11 December 2025 for ICMDA Webinars.

Dr Peter Saunders chairs a webinar with Prof Paul Johnson

In a chaotic and under-resourced workplace, conflicting motives and drivers exist, and pressure to meet treatment targets and address huge waiting list backlogs, can easily lead to a culture in which there is subtle creativity with the truth.

As apprentices of Jesus, we are called to model a different way - a Christian counterculture - in which truth and justice are central, and in which Kingdom values are prioritised. In this talk we will reflect together on promoting and modelling truth in a chaotic workplace.

Paul is Professor of Paediatric Surgery at the University of Oxford and Director of the Oxford Pancreatic Islet Isolation and Transplant Programmes. His clinical and research interests are in transplantation and endocrine surgery. He is Clinical Lead for NHSE Thames Valley and Wessex Surgery Surgery in Children Operational Delivery Network, with oversight of Children’s Surgery across 19 hospitals. Paul is currently President-Elect of the European Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association and Past-Chair of the NHSBT Islet Steering Group, and he sits on the CMF Council of Reference. He is married to Hilary, a retired Consultant Child Psychiatrist, and has 2 grown up children and a 3 year old grandson. To listen live to future ICMDA webinars visit https://icmda.net/resources/webinars/
