The Pelvic Floor: Why It Is So Much More Important Than Just Being 'Tight'
When we think about the pelvic floor, a lot of us go straight to the need for it to be ‘tight’ in the hopes of enhancing our sexual experience.  If you’re a big exerciser, you may also recall its importance for avoiding a little puddle in your knickers whilst skipping or jumping. This week chatted to Caitlin from the Pelvic Floor Project who shared the complex and multifaceted importance of the pelvic floor amongst women.  In this episode we discuss  - Why it is important for women to care about the health of their pelvic floor  - The diverse factors that contribute to a woman’s experience of menstrual pain and how our hormones can affect the contractility of the pelvic floor muscles across the menstrual cycle  - Particular exercises to reduce period pains and cramps and the potential damage that menstrual cups can cause if they are taken out incorrectly - Common misconceptions women have about our pelvic floor  - Tips for looking after your pelvic health  To become part of Caitlin’s community you can find her on  Instagram @thepelvicfloorproject  Website thepelvicfloorproject.com for lots of free resources!
