Nivedita Aikat Saha is our favourite! And it's nothing less than a blessing for us to be able to share this space with her once again. We couldn't be prouder and happier! She was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, and acquired a BFA from Sir JJ Institute of Applied Arts, Mumbai, and spent over a decade working in the Commercial Arts (Advertising & Communication). Having moved to the Middle East in 2002, she received the opportunity and support to pursue her true calling, fulltime into fine arts. She followed her passion with a consistent effort towards seeking a foothold in the art world locally and globally. Researching and experimenting with various mediums and methods of making art have become her way of life. Her body of work finds its expression from her inner thoughts and visions. They are a reflection of what experiences & environment imprint on her soul & body. Above all, it is her mode of communication with humanity, at large. Her practice focuses on philosophical ideas expressed through diverse and creative forms of narratives. She is interested in keeping the old traditions alive yet in the process find new ones by providing an honest interactive space for dialogue and reflection. This is a transformative space that brings together people from different walks of life, cultures encouraging a community to think and dream about what it means to be together in this world. Mythology, Culture and Impacts of Faith are her subjects of research which have led her to travel and share ideas across many cultures and countries such a Kazakhstan, Germany, England, Malaysia, United States, Portugal, India and many others through performances, art calls, collaborative projects, biennales and art residencies. She fulfilled a Masters Degree in Social Sculpture and Connective Practice from Oxford, United Kingdom. Currently, she lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and operates from her private art atelier ‘Art Studio Meraki’. She has been actively travelling and working with both large and small communities (India and UAE) across various interdisciplinary projects/platforms, collaborating with people from various cultures, adopting various methodologies from her ongoing research and educational experience. Her prime focus involves extensive research on impacts of ancient culture and traditions on the current social landscape. She works associating herself into thought-provoking social mobilization projects with a soul aim of creating work that encourages positive shifts in the world in addition to being a healer. Nivedita says.. "I see the world as I am within, like an ocean of possibilities, like water open to transformations and constantly adapting to an array of containers that life has to offer".
