From plant based to next air-based food ? Future is to develop different ways on how food can be produced to feed estimated 10 billion people by 2050. The United Nation Food and Agricultural Foundation predicts #farmers will need to increase food production by 70% with only 5% land increase. This will pose a great challenge to basic necessity of food production. A #startup Air Protein taking inspiration from NASA has developed technology which can make food out of elements of the air, such as CO2. Air Protein uses CO2 as a #carbon source and through proprietary pro-biotic production process using solar power to split water and then air protein flour is made by a special class of microbes called hydrogenotrophs which use CO2 to produce amino acids in few hours. Air Protein flour which is produced is highly rich in protein by 80% compared to 40% in typical soy protein flour.
