For this episode of Inspiring Explorers, we have an inspiring explorer whose determination to follow her dreams to be a ballerina was so strong, that she made it possible despite the fact that she was pursuing it in a country whose culture back in the days hadn't even heard of the term Ballet.

Ritika Chandra is a New Delhi based professional Ballerina who has trained in the Vaganova method for the past 20 years but practicing and following Ballet in India was a huge challenge in itself as this Italian originated elegant dance form was unknown to India back in the days and is still in its very early stages in India.

Ritika Chandra fell in love with Ballet when she was only 5 years old, and while it was difficult to not just find a ballet school in India but also proper equipment like ballet shoes and dresses important for training in Ballet, none of the challenges stopped her heart from pursuing ballet as a career in a country that hadn't much heard of such a word. Ritika Chandra then trained from teachers from all over the world namely India, Russia, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, USA, Dominican Republic, and France. Her dancing career included intensive training at prestigious schools such as the Kirov Academy of Dance, (Washington D.C.), Washington Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Contemporary Dance Theatre, and Tevlin Ballet.

She has also been part of several ballet performances in India on a professional level holding the position of the lead dancer.

And is currently the founder of the Ballet school named Ellan Ballet

making it possible for the young dreamers that love ballet to not face the same challenges that Ritika faced.
