Eye on Copyright Enforcement Episode 4: Battling Illegal Live Streaming of Sports Events

Unauthorized live streaming of sports events costs the sports industry an estimated 3 billion USD a year. This form of copyright infringement not only hurts broadcasters and right holders, but also athletes and sports associations that benefit from the funds generated through the sale of broadcasting rights. In this episode, we discuss illegal live streaming of sports events, including the magnitude of the problem, its impact on sports organizations and broadcasters. Listen to an insightful conversation with Guillermo Rodríguez, the Chief Operating Officer at LaLiga Content Protection, who talks about the experiences, challenges, and strategies of sports organizations in enforcing copyright and

protecting the integrity of sports broadcasts.

“Eye on Copyright Enforcement” – conversations with artists, lawyers and creative industry experts on the importance of respecting copyright – is brought to you by the Building Respect for IP Division with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea.
