Where does rap music sit in the great context of legendary art? Does it sit in the company of Jazz, funk and soul as “classics”?

This debate, whichever direction it lands, is a hill for many.

Kwaito, grime, gqom, motswako- where should history archive the genres that framed the identities of so many and why does it matter?

In the season’s finale of season 1 (WHOOP), we sit down with our favorite rap artist. JustJabba (Njabulo Mpanza). JustJabba is the master behind our soundtrack and a student of music we’ve watched grow and mature in his approach to the art of music. In this episode, we test various theories around the legacy of rap music under the umbrella of hip hop.
