When Complications Happen

When Complications Happen
For anyone considering surgery, Drs. Kortesis and Bharti discuss the nature of complications in plastic surgery and how they’re handled, from the doctor’s point of view and the patient’s.

Complications in plastic surgery include hematomas, seromas, necrosis, or blood clots. Both surgeons have been in practice long enough to know that it’s a matter of predicting them, preventing them, and doing things by checklist. For any procedure, the goal is to make sure the benefits are high and the risks are much lower.

When complications do happen, the H/K/B way to handle them is to take a team approach.

In both life and in the operating room, sometimes you have to take an alternate route to get to your destination. A good, caring, experienced surgeon knows how to handle complications that arise to reach the best possible outcome.
