In Episode 9, we dive into the phrase 「〜ながら」 (nagara).

It looks simple, but it actually has TWO very different meanings!

👉 同時進行 = while doing

👉 逆接 = although / even though

Examples:

・音楽を聞きながら勉強します。= I study while listening to music.

・知っていながら、言わなかった。= Although I knew, I didn’t say anything.

Context decides everything — is it two actions happening at once, or is it expressing a contradiction?

This tiny word is super common in conversation and appears often on the JLPT.
