Welcome back to Koalasβ Tricky Japanese π¨β¨ β Koatori for short!
In Episode 5, we explore the phrase γγγγγ¨γγγγ, which is used to talk about experiences.
π ζ₯ζ¬γ«θ‘γ£γγγ¨γγγγΎγγ= Iβve been to Japan before.
π γγγι£γΉγγγ¨γγγγΎγγ= Iβve eaten sushi before.
π ε―士山γ«η»γ£γγγ¨γγγγΎγγγ= Iβve never climbed Mt. Fuji.
Sounds simple, right? But many learners confuse it with the plain past tense γγγΎγγγ.
γθ‘γγΎγγγ = I went (a specific time).
γθ‘γ£γγγ¨γγγγΎγγ = Iβve been (the experience).
A small difference, but it changes the meaning completely!
This tricky phrase shows up in daily conversations, and yes β even on the JLPT.
Laugh a little, learn a lot, and make Japanese less tricky with Koatori! π§
