Bilal Powell Breaks Down the Jets Trade Deadline Moves – JetNation Flight 29

Back from the bye week. The New York Jets won the day before Bilal’s birthday, and he was at the game. It was a bittersweet time with the news about the passing of Nick Mangold. Bilal Powell and Rami Lavi are back with JetNation Flight 29, our NY Jets podcast.
Trade deadline moves: Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams are gone. “We can lose with or without you” is the message the Jets are sending. Bilal Powell says it was a little shocking, but he thinks it makes sense. It’s about dictating the future and creating an opportunity to see where the organization is going.
Garrett Wilson
Rami Lavi says teams called about Garrett Wilson, and it was a hard no. He points to Detroit’s model of stacking draft picks and hitting on them. At some point, you say it isn’t working with these guys—build your own culture.
On Quinnen Williams, Bilal says he’ll do a great job in Dallas. Sometimes you wipe your hands and say this is the end of the road; bring in guys and develop them as your own. Rami adds that Mougey did a great job, paying these guys and still being able to trade them.
They also look at the Bengals game and break things down.
Bilal Powell on Breece Hall
“He isolated himself on the sideline. It’s a small league and your personality and everything that goes into your actions—your character—matters. Continue to focus. I noticed his actions in Cincy; he isolated himself and didn’t want to be a part of it. I’m observant; I watched him. If he wants out, he’s going about this the wrong way.”
Starting QB talk, Justin Fields answered Woody Johnson. More thoughts on Nick Mangold and what to expect the rest of the season under Aaron Glenn.
