Tragedy swept the nation 20 years ago. Many also answered the call to serve, knowing they wanted to be a part of keeping the nation safe.

Sgt. 1st. Class Williams Fernandez Calvet served in the Air Force in his native country of Peru for 11 years. When the events of 9/11 happened, he went to talk to a recruiter.

Maj. Shawn Scott has a family history of military service. Though still a highschool senior when the towers fell, Scott felt the need to be a part of the Army and make a difference.
