Today we will be looking at tips to build your self-confidence. In my previous post, I was able to give you guys six tips so this article is basically part 2 of yesterday’s post. If you've not read the previous article I would recommend you check it out before you go through this one. Because it's going to make much sense when you have prior knowledge of the first six tips. I think everything is crucial and if you're feeling a little bit laggy to do this, I'm just gonna do a recap on what I wrote in the article.
Recap
One of the tips we looked at was ‘’Look at what you've already achieved’’ This is a very vital move; you need to identify your strength and weaknesses. The second point was ‘’Set Goals’’ which we discussed its relation to the achievement aspect, which brings about high esteem. Thirdly, we mentioned ‘’Take time off Social Media platform,’’ so as to avoid comparison where you just end up comparing yourself to these influencers out there and other people. You must acknowledge that in life there will always be someone who's above you and someone who is below you. The comparison comes up easily when you consume excess social media content. I talked about it much more in-depth in the previous article. Number 5 we looked at ‘’Getting a Hobby’’ and we talked about how getting a hobby or getting something that you're interested in and passionate about; makes you more motivated and you are likely to build the skills you need in that particular platform more quickly.
Finally, we looked at, ‘’Working on yourself and doing what makes you feel better and more confident.’’ I feel like at this point we just rush through it. So I'm just going to start off with this tip.
Sometimes you just have to take a step back and focus on yourself. I feel like most of the time we tend to live in this cycle of ‘’what does he or she think about me’’, especially in the African Culture. I am a firstborn and every other African firstborn can attest to this. We often live in this imagery that we've created around ourselves; the imagery of wanting to be perfect, we want to appear perfectly fine to our siblings because we are just constantly bombarded with this notion that we are the role models of the family. So you constantly have this pressure of being better; the pressure of setting standards that they can live by all and following whatever you are told, the career path chosen for you which may not be entirely your passion.
