Judging Judy #9 - Discord of the Ring | a comedy podcast
She thought it was love right up until he served her with paternity papers. He thought it was an engagement ring, even though he gave it to her on Mother’s Day. Now, it’s up to Judy to decide who gets the ring and who gets nothing but a very stern lecture. And it’s up to us to decide if Judy is innocent or guilty! That’s right, another week of Judging Judy, the only podcast that turns the tables on America’s least favorite TV judge. Unlike other podcasts you might accidentally listen to, like, say, Smartless, Judging Judy does real work. We go beyond the fluff. We go beyond the platitudes. We’re here to figure out if Judy actually did her job. If she did, she’s innocent. If not, she’s guilty.Perfect for fans of podcasts like the Doughboys and Cinephobe, Judging Judy is a one-of-a-kind exploration into the cultural phenomenon that was, and still is, Judge Judy. Each week, we direct an episode from the show’s long, storied archives. We set the mood with quick refresher on what was going on in the world when the episode aired. Then, we do an exhaustive watch-along style play-by-play of the cases that came before the Judge that day. Ultimately, though, we’re not here for anything else but justice. And our rulings are not to be trifled with! This week’s episode originally aired way back in 1998 and, boy, the hairstyles definitely reflect it. Any one of the people on today’s episode could be a Comedy Bang Bang character, and I dare say, some might do well on a show like St. Denis Medical. Our two petitioners to the court are, rhetorically speaking, battling over a ring he gave her. But, ultimately, Judy makes this a case about their kids, and how they should be treated. Judy has some real concerns for how the kids will be raised and the importance of them having a father in their life. Are these concerns valid or is it just another case of Judy sticking her legal nose where it doesn’t belong? You’ll just have to listen to find out. There’s also a lot of back and forth, perhaps too much in fact, about if the kids eat dinner or not, but, look, none of that matters. Like the Willy Wonka movie with Timothee Chalamet, you can just forget all that. All that matters is our ultimate decision: innocent or guilty.Because, after all, we’re here to Judge Judy. We’re on Judy duty.
