Fueled by his passion for Kansas City, the area in which he was born and bred, drummer Andrew Moore has launched a new podcast, KC Drummers and Beyond, celebrating the region’s musicianship.

Moore, himself, has been playing drums since the age of nine and is well known as the drummer for the popular band Perpetual Change, which has been together for an amazing 37 years. In addition to their own packed gigs, for the past ten years Perpetual Change has been the chosen house band for Big Slick, a fundraiser for Children’s Mercy Hospital, hosted by such Kansas City celebrities as Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, David Koechner, Eric Stonestreet and Rob Riggle. The band has also backed up such major musicians as Chris Daughtry, David Cook and Rush’s Alex Lifeson.

After the loss of a couple of local drummer buddies, Moore decided it was time to preserve the stories of his fellow percussive friends. He began to take them into his home studio to document their lives and the podcast was born, He will initially roll out three episodes followed by a new one every other week. Some of the players undoubtedly will be better known than others, but most important to Moore is to share Kansas City’s heritage and treasures.

“I am hoping people will learn about these incredible drummers with K.C. Drummers and Beyond,” Moore says. “I want to give them the acknowledgement they deserve and pay tribute to the area I love.”
