For this episode, the show welcomes arguably one of California's most decorated high school track and field coaches ever. Lee Webb spent more than 30 years as the boys and girls track coach of James Logan High in Union City. His Colts teams won two state titles and 53 North Coast Section championships. His athletes won a combined 36 individual state golds and 253 NCS golds. He's also coached junior world and junior national teams for USA Track and Field.
For the past four decades, Coach Webb has used his ties to some of the nation's greatest track and field athletes to provide an annual Learning By Doing Clinic featuring instruction provided by former Olympians and world record holders. On Feb. 18, the event will return for the first time since 2019 and will be the first of two held at Chabot College in Hayward this spring.
Webb discusses how the event came to be, and shares about the many Olympians who have attended over the years — as well as the ones who will be instructing this year. He also shares a few pieces of advice for high school athletes getting ready to begin their 2023 seasons.
