For this episode, we're joined by Dr. Hany Elrashidy to dive into the world of regenerative medicine — and how it can benefit both older and younger patients alike.
Dr. Elashidy is an orthopedic surgeon for Golden State Orthopedic & Spine. He's also the head physician for athletes at Dougherty Valley High in San Ramon and a leading voice and proponent of orthobiologics.
Host Chace Bryson has the doctor explain some of the various treatments that can be found in the field of orthobiologics. Those include platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, stem cell injections and more. While the treatments have gone along way in helping alleviate arthritis pain in older adults, there are plenty of younger athletes who can find relief through these treatments. They've been used in tendon injuries such as tennis elbow and runner's knee, as well as ACL tears.
