Learn Baby, Burn - Episode 1: An Introduction to Prescribed Fire
This podcast, distributed by the Michigan Prescribed Fire Council, is meant to educate the public on the existence and purpose of prescribed fire. Prescribed fire, or intentionally lit fires, have been used for tens of thousands of years as a way to naturally regenerate the land. Though they're cheap, effective, and safe, public perception of burning is understandably shaky. Burns seem scary, but hopefully by attempting to be transparent about how and why we burn, practitioners that use fire for good can spread an understanding regarding the benefits of prescribed fire.
