Healing through cultural food. How do the seasons teach us and guide us on what to eat. It’s important to remember our culture as it is the very ingredient of who we are. Food is our teacher, it teaches us about ourselves, how we eat, what we eat is important for our wellbeing. Being present across the table in our kitchen, is the most important executive position, in the lineage of our family line, we are the representatives of our past, present and what we sow into today is what is reaped into the future of our children we are the ambassadors to our family. Carmela's Cucina Povera a journey of self discovery and healing through Sicilian cooking

Here's a little video on my first book available on Amazon.

It's about my family their story of how food is the center of their life. Their recipes, and I share about each one with you.

There is 77 recipes of Cucina Povera, I wrote the book just after both my parents died within 8 months of each other.

I woke up at 5 o'clock each morning with a flow that I just did not want to finish, it felt that if I stopped I would forget about each one, the details especially.

It was so important to me to share it with you, why?

Each one sacrificed their lives for the future of their children and grandchildren, they came to Australia just after WW2 and worked.

They worked and saved and more, always thinking about the future and planting seeds for the future generations to come.

How can I explain to you who they are?

By reading the book and finding out for yourself that way you can let me know what you think. I would love your feedback.

I imagine that you probably have your own story to tell me, I would love to know.
