Episode 217 - Last Night in Soho

Oz and Curtis are putting on their best vintage coats, avoiding the shadows in the hallway, and trying not to lose themselves in a dream to break down Edgar Wright’s stylish, haunting Psychological Horror trip: Last Night in Soho!

Eloise (Thomasin McKenzie), an aspiring fashion designer with a sixth sense, moves to London and finds herself mysteriously transported back to the 1960s. There, she witnesses the life of Sandie (Anya Taylor-Joy), a dazzling wannabe singer whose glamorous world slowly spirals into a horrific nightmare. As the past and present begin to bleed together, Eloise must uncover a dark secret before the ghosts of Soho consume her entirely.

We break down the film’s sensory overload: the incredible, mirror-perfect choreography, the career-defining screen presence of Anya Taylor-Joy, the Giallo-inspired lighting and camerawork, and the film’s sharp critique of "the good old days." Is Last Night in Soho a modern Horror masterpiece and a brilliant departure for Edgar Wright, or just a movie that proves some eras are better left in the past? Tune in for our full Last Night in Soho 2021 movie review!

If you’re into analyzing visual storytelling, appreciating films that blend genres, or listening to two dudes who would definitely panic if they saw a ghost in a Mod dress, this episode is for you.
