"...Why poke the bear? Because no matter how well hidden, fear is an insidious creature that will constrain our choices without us even realising. Unconscious fear will lead us to prefer the easier options, to say no instead of yes, to ignore opportunities, to procrastinate, to lash out, to avoid intimacy, and even to be hyper-sensitive to the cold. Fear hijacks success. It lowers the ceiling on our horizon of possibilities. Without us knowing it. Fear stunts the growth of the soul.
In the days following my stalking of the fear, I felt powerful surges of pleasure and satisfaction rising inside my body. Out of nowhere. The space that had been taken up by fear was now vacant for more of my true essence to take up residence. All one afternoon I felt almost as if I’d taken Ecstasy. The unfurling of delicious warmth and extreme comfort within my body was intoxicating. Indulging in the full expansion of every breath, I felt as if I could yield eternally into ceaseless pleasure. Since growing out of taking recreational drugs I’ve long aspired to be able to access the same states via natural means. And here it was. Waves and waves of blissful satisfaction as a result of challenging my fear."
