You’ve probably been drawn to the tech industry to solve interesting problems, gain financial stability or meet smart people. But now you find yourself in one too many unproductive zoom calls and probably wonder: is that it? Well, you are not alone. People you will hear on this podcast asked the same question and took action. They followed their passions beyond tech or rediscovered meaning in the industry. Which path will you choose?

The ‘Tech’ We Are Trying To Quit with Claire Stapleton

The ‘Tech’ We Are Trying To Quit with Claire Stapleton

After the first episode, we have been debating for MONTHS (hence the silence): what is this 'Tech' we want to quit? O. doesn’t want to quit Tech at all, yet he started this podcast with me (O., buddy, you okay?), and I want to quit something but not sure it’s Tech itself. What’s our problem? Is it really ‘Tech’ we are discontent with?

Claire Stapleton, who used to be the fun, quirky voice of Communications Department at Google (or “The Bard of Google”, as Larry Page used to call her), is no stranger to this question. Having started at Google fresh after college, she went from total awe to organising the Walkout, the biggest protest in the Tech industry at that time. Together we try to break down the nature of work and what we are trying to break free from.

If you want to connect with Claire, subscribe to her newsletter Tech Support and join her community on Discord.

The book we mentioned in the episode is ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron.
