Mia lost her son Julian 2014 to mental health and addiction

2019 Kristoff St John her ex and her children's father died due to alcoholism Kristoff was an actor and played Neil Winters on Young and Restless for many years

Both she and Kristoff were very public people and so her grief her loss and her relapse after 30 years of recovery was all very public

Mia has been instrumental in changing the protocols in mental health hospitals and continues today to be an advocate also for her daughter Paris
