Colossians 1:28 NIV “He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.” This episode explores our role in guiding one another towards Jesus – working out our faith, a bit like Sherpas, supporting one another, carrying each others’ ‘burdens’ and encouraging one another on.
Jesus exampled this in his interactions with others, for example – the Samaritan woman at the well, arrived ashamed, but left free, saying “”Come, see a man who told me everything l ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” (John 4:29), leading to the response of the villagers who responded to her saying “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Saviour of the world.” (John 4:42)

Psalm 40: 1-3
Everything God calls us to do comes from the fact that He has rescued us – and gives us purpose! It’s worth pausing to reflect on this:
He removes our blemishes, reconciles us to Himself, makes us acceptable in His sight, and He frees us from accusation. The devil is the source of all accusation (Rev 12:10). When accusation is exposed to the light, its power is broken, and we’re freed… IF we continue to live in faith (Colossians 1:23)
How do we continue to standing firm? (Psalm 40: 3-5)
Working with God
God has plans (or imaginations) for our life. But it’s for us to continue to nurture these with Him. Just like babies maturing into adults via a healthy relationship with their parents, we need to make sure that we don’t get ‘locked in’ to specific, temporal plans – because they should develop. They might fail (like Peter walking on the water), but Jesus will be there. And the best way to mature is always by asking God how to fulfil them!
Psalm 40: 6-8 Growing up in God means ‘having His instructions written on our hearts.’
