In deze podcast gaat Daan Russcher in gesprek met stadsonderzoeker David Hamers, samen nemen ze je mee naar de rafelranden van verschillende stedelijkegebieden. Deze stukjes “niemandsland” zijn onbestemde overgangsgebieden waar allerlei zaken plaatsvinden die geen ruimte krijgen in de rest van de zorgvuldig ingerichte stad. Waar veel mensen dit soort plekken slechts passeren en nauwelijks tot zich nemen, proberen Daan en David ze juist te doorgronden: Daan door ze in zijn beeldend werk te deconstrueren en reconstrueren, David door ze zorgvuldig te analyseren.

These pieces of ‘no man’s land’ are designed as spaces of transit, where those things happen that aren’t granted their own space inside the carefully planned city. Whilst many people pass these places without much notice, Daan and David try to unearth them: Daan through deconstruction and reconstruction in his visual practice, David by carefully analysing them. What do you find on the edges of the city when you stop and look around? How do you look passed the mess and ‘read’ these places? What is the importance of these places, why do they exist?
