294 | Intermediate - Short Story: The Musician’s Shadow [English Listening Practice]

Title: The Musician’s Shadow

Level: Intermediate (B2)

#Story :

Sebastian, a traveling pianist, is haunted by a mysterious melody that comes to him in dreams. Drawn to a quiet town called Halewick, he discovers an old theater where his dream begins to take shape. There, he meets Lila, the ghost of a violinist who died before finishing her masterpiece. Sebastian realizes that they once knew each other in another life, having composed the same haunting melody together. Their souls are deeply connected by music and fate. Lila offers him a choice: to stay with her forever in the timeless world of the theater or to return to the living world, leaving her behind. Though torn, Sebastian chooses to return, promising to carry their melody with him. When he wakes, the theater is empty, but he plays their song, feeling her presence in every note, knowing she will always live on in his music.
