Today on the Live Life Podcast, we welcome Matthew Villegas, a former sheriff’s deputy from Salinas, California, who has undergone a powerful transformation. After dedicating over 13 years to law enforcement, Matthew found himself grappling with severe anxiety, depression, addiction, and thoughts of suicide battles that many men face in silence due to the stigma around mental health. Hitting rock bottom, Matthew sought help through detox and residential treatment, where he not only achieved sobriety but discovered his calling. Now, as an AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) counselor, he is passionate about breaking the silence on men’s mental health and showing others that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. His mission is to spread hope, help others reclaim their lives, and demonstrate that recovery and healing are possible. Matthew’s journey is a testament to the power of vulnerability, transformation, and perseverance.
