The Emergency Family Assistance Association, or EFAA, just announced it received a five million dollar grant from the Bezos Day One Families Fund. This is huge for Boulder. The funding will help EFAA double its capacity to shelter families experiencing homelessness, with plans to support over three hundred families on a path toward long-term housing stability. EFAA executive director Debbie Pope says this grant is an important opportunity to strengthen Boulder's safety net and provide a model for nonprofits across the country on how to address homelessness. The organization will launch a new program called EFAA Pathways that expands existing housing programs and includes wraparound services like financial coaching and family strengthening programming. Of thirty-two grant recipients nationwide, EFAA was the only Colorado nonprofit selected this year, making this a real point of pride for our community.

Speaking of community transformation, we're also keeping an eye on Casey Middle School, where principal Bryant Shaw has been working to rebuild the school's culture. Shaw, a former professional football player, is bringing a systems-based approach that's already showing results. Academic growth has rebounded, with math scores at their highest level in nearly a decade for all student groups. Suspensions have dropped dramatically from thirty-seven in twenty twenty-two to just thirteen last year. The overall atmosphere has shifted so noticeably that families who previously steered their kids elsewhere are reconsidering Boulder Valley Schools.

The heaviest snow is expected between three and ten a-m, right during the morning commute.
