In this two-part episode, we explore the living and livelihood options for refugees in Malaysia. In Part 2, we look at the complicated process of acquiring Refugee Status Determination and a UNHCR card, as well as the long, narrow road to resettlement. We examine what education opportunities are available for refugee children in Malaysia. We also look briefly at the grim situation in detention facilities, which is hard to report on due to lack of information and transparency. At the end of the episode, we ask the question: what do we have to gain by denying refugees a right to education and legal employment, and treating them as criminals?
