Raja Voluntary Blood Bank, Visakhapatnam.Her journey began with a bold vision: to establish the first Public Trust Blood Bank in Andhra Pradesh. With dedication and expertise honed as a Registrar in Immunohematology at CMC Vellore, she brought that vision to life in 1995. Under her exemplary leadership, the A. S. Raja Voluntary Blood Bank has pioneered training programmes for medical colleges, organised camps across more than 250 institutions in North Coastal Andhra, and transformed community awareness around blood donation.For over two decades, Dr. Sugandhi has been a pillar of support for children suffering from Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anaemia, offering care, compassion, and hope. Her outstanding contributions have earned her the State First Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2012.The A. S. Raja Voluntary Blood Bank stands apart as the only blood bank in the state equipped with three full-time M.D. Pathology specialists, ensuring the highest standards in blood safety and component preparation.
