I am Earvin Magic Johnson and it has been an eventful few days both personally and for my career. Just this past week on The Jennifer Hudson Show as reported by BET I got candid about the darkest moment in my life—revealing my HIV diagnosis to my wife Cookie while she was pregnant with our son EJ. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do but Cookie’s strength and our shared faith pulled us through. We dropped to our knees together and prayed and I am forever grateful that both she and our son were healthy. I continue to reflect on how important it has been for me to speak publicly and consistently about living with HIV and fighting the stigma—especially within Black and brown communities.

Business-wise there is significant news from Magic Johnson Enterprises. According to Black Enterprise I have just appointed Alexia Grevious Henderson as our new president. She has led our strategic partnerships and brand initiatives since 2017 and her promotion signals an exciting new chapter for the company. Her leadership is already being celebrated across business circles and her track record in community development and industry partnerships is second to none. I believe Alexia is one of the bright young minds who will take Magic Johnson Enterprises forward in investments sports real estate and outreach to underserved communities.

On the philanthropic front I remain committed to service. The LA Food Bank held a drive-through food distribution at Earvin Magic Johnson Park just days ago, helping families in need across Los Angeles, showing again why that park carries my name and my ongoing commitment to the city.

On social media I have been sharing family moments that have brought me real joy.
