The Drakensberg Grand Traverse - 9 days of highlights for 3 newbies
Today we look back at our 2017 Drakensberg Grand Traverse. Roughly 210 km, as we Ascended the escarpment via the chain ladders at Sentinel Peak, then to Summit Mont Aux Sources (the source of Kwazulu-Natal’s Tugela river, Cleft Peak, Champagne Castle, Mafadi (The highest point in South Africa @3451m), Giants Castle, Thabana Ntlenyana (In Lesotho, the highest point in Southern Africa @3482m and Descend via Thamathu Pass to Bushmans Nek! With an elevation gain in excess of 9000 meters), running along the edge of the escarpment at high altitudes, frequently crisscrossing the border between South Africa and Lesotho, over 34 ridges and accompanying valleys! I've never been prouder of My wife Hanlie and Good friend Willem! It was a truly fantastic experience and I hope you enjoy it.
