Hypocrisy is not just pretending. Matias explains that its roots come from survival, not deception. Animals disguise themselves to stay alive; humans created emotional and social masks for the same reason. We say “I’m fine” even when we’re not, or act polite even when irritated, and that isn’t lying it’s adaptation. There is good hypocrisy, which keeps peace and helps social harmony, and bad hypocrisy, which manipulates or hurts others. The difference is always intention. When we understand our own masks, we can decide which ones are helpful and which ones keep us from being real. Unconscious hypocrisy traps you; conscious hypocrisy protects you. The more you know yourself, the less you need masks to move through the world.
