Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is an umbrella term used to describe conditions that occur due to reduced oxygen supply to the myocardium of the heart, resulting in myocardial ischemia. ACS was the number one principal cause of death in Malaysia in 2019 and accounted for 15% of medically certified deaths in 2019.
