The literal and figurative pillar that upholds racism and sexism is evangelical Christianity.  A failure to accept the world that is, these groups attempt to coerce through media and political clout.  Any God who hates those whom Jesus loved - the sick and the poor - is the creation of power hungry men and not divine inspiration.
