Mijk van Dijk presents Japan City Pop of the 80s Vol.2 - Sunshower Mix
It’s been way too long since I uploaded my first Japan City Pop DJ-Mix, which became an overnight success and with 11.600+ listeners to date my most popular mix on Mixcloud by far. It’s really amazing, how many people seem to share my passion for City Pop (シティーポップShitī Poppu), the sound, that emerged from booming urban Japan in the late 70s and early 80 and I want to take once again the opportunity for a very warm-hearted “domo arigato gozai-mashita” (-_-) for all the love and support you have been giving that mix.
This time I start in 1977 with "Summer Connection" of Taeko Ohnuki’s wonderful album “Sun Shower”, play many sun-kissed vibes by Tatsuro Yamashita, Toshiki Kadomatsu and more to end the mix with a song called “Sun Shower”, produced in 1989 by Japan’s Proto-House pioneer Soichi Terada, whom I had the pleasure to meet one year ago at the Kaga Music Festival. Mixed last night before the hottest day in German history (40°C max) this truly deserves the name “Sunshower Mix”.
