For this very first episode of Miyagebanashi, I’m taking you to Shimane Prefecture, a place close to my heart where I lived and worked on a tourism project for two years.
Our journey begins in Kisuki-cho, Unnan City, located just south of the famous Izumo Taisha Shrine.
Known as the best cherry blossom spot in the Chugoku region, this town holds a moving story behind its beautiful Sakura-zome (cherry blossom dyed) handkerchiefs. Today, I’ll share the heartwarming history woven into these delicate souvenirs.

▼ About the Show
Hosted by Aisa, who has a personal goal of leisurely visiting all 47 prefectures of Japan by the age of 30!
This is a podcast about Omiyage (souvenirs) and Monogatari (stories). I share the hidden stories behind the items I encounter on my travels—the passion of the creators, the memories of the land, and the anecdotes from my journey.
I welcome your recommendations for souvenirs and traditional crafts from all over Japan!
