A group of five friends inadvertently cause a fatal car accident on the 4th of July. Instead of reporting it, they make a pact to cover it up. One year later, their past comes back to haunt them when a mysterious, hook-wielding killer begins to stalk and murder them one by one. As they are hunted, they realize this has happened before and seek help from two survivors of a similar killing spree that took place in their town back in 1997.
