What they don’t see is what it costs her body to “chase joy” for 24 hours straight, or why school and daycare have become part of her healing, her rest, and her way of preparing her children for whatever the future holds.

Yes, Michelle has cancer. And yes, she sends her son to daycare. Not because she doesn’t want to be with him — but because she wants to give him something that will last, even if she’s not here. Routine. Joy. Connection beyond just her.
