New York City just elected a 30-something Democratic Socialist who's never run anything, and now he wants to open state-run grocery stores while doubling minimum wage to $30 an hour. What could go wrong? Yet here we go again with the greatest hits: rent freezes, free buses, and city-owned everything. The bodega owners Mandani name-dropped in his victory speech? They're calling it the road to communism and they're not wrong. One owner perfectly summed it up: "We are on the way to becoming a communist state."
