Passionately curious about the impact of technology

Introduction:

It is almost impossible to imagine a world without our smartphones, tablets, smart gadgets, and always-on communication. Surrounded by and dependent on so many devices, applications, and constant connectivity, we have grown to appreciate the many ways that technology makes our lives easier and better. At the same time, we know we are faced with constant change as we try to adapt to the rapid heartbeat of tech-led innovation. Technology companies, ranging from hardware vendors and telecom operators to cloud service providers and application developers, are in a relentless pursuit to develop and market new products and services based on the latest technologies. Some of these innovations immediately enter our lives whether we like it or not, some are never embraced at scale, and some need a lot of time to make it from their initial hype to a phase where they impact the day-to-day operations of our businesses or our everyday lives as consumers and citizens.

It is in this context that Frank de Jong, a tech evangelist and program director at Orange Business, got into a conversation with Kerem Arsal, a seasoned tech analyst at Omdia. Their conversation became a heated discussion on the impact of technology on today's society and what the intended and unintended consequences of certain technologies could be. They may not agree on everything, but they both firmly believe in the importance of thinking critically about how technologies affect our societies and how societies influence the adoption of technologies.

Orange Business recognizes the value of this type of conversations and provides Frank and Kerem with the possibility to produce this podcast.

In every episode, Frank and Kerem will invite one or more guests to talk about one aspect of today's technology and share their expertise with us. Being the passionately curious guys that they are, Frank and Kerem do not only ask the obvious questions but try to "look behind the curtain", as well.

If you believe you have an interesting topic to discuss in this podcast, feel free to reach out to us.
