Hurricane Dorianwasn’t kind to Atlantic Canada, but it attacked the Bahamas. The 2019 storm recorded peak winds of nearly 300km/h and left roughly 70,000 people homeless. Among those was Tara Pyfrom, her wife, their daughter, and their dogs. The water entered the house. Tara and her family swam in their living room to survive. And when the winds quieted, they packed up and moved to New Brunswick. Tara has now published a memoir, The Ocean in Our Blood, about their experience. She joins Jenna & Tosh to talk about the process of confronting grief and trauma that led to the book and the family’s current life in Saint John, New Brunswick.
