Learning about Parts of speech is essential and interesting in learning basic grammar. Parts of speech deals with the role or part played by a word in a sentence. There are 8 parts of speech in U.K based grammar. They are noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, preposition, conjunction and interjection. A noun is the name of a person, place, thing or an idea. The main types of nouns are proper noun, common noun, collective noun, material noun and abstract noun. A pronoun is the word used instead of a noun. Let us discuss about the major types of pronouns namely personal pronoun, possessive pronoun, relative pronoun, demonstrative pronoun and interrogative pronoun.
