Well, it’s very close to home.” Sirius watched as Hope fiddled with her sleeve. She so rarely got fidgety, but Remus being vulnerable was tender territory for her, Sirius realized.
“You think he’s okay?” Hope asked softly.
Sirius thought for a moment. He wanted to give her an honest answer. “I think so. I do. I’m not just saying that.”
“I know,” Hope said. “You never say anything you don’t mean.”
Sirius barked out a laugh. “No, suppose I don’t. He’d tell you not to worry about him.”
“I know. It’s silly. Of course I worry about him. He’s my dad.”
Sirius’ heart squeezed at the thought of how much Moony’s girl loved him. “Yeah, and for a long time it was just you and him, against the world.”
“You didn’t —“
“I’m not trying to get compliments. I’m just saying. You’d worry about him because to you, you’re a team.”
Hope nodded. “Team’s gotten a little bigger, though.”
